Every year, Navy League cadets from around BCMD are invited to a mass summer camp, codenamed Operation Discovery Invasion, over the August long weekend. Do you have what it takes?
This past summer, over 140 cadets and 25 officers/staff cadets participated in classes about Sailing, Outdoor Adventure Training, and Range/Marksmanship. The first-year cadets attending were able to experience every activity, while returning cadets would specialize in one area of training. They meet friends from all over British Columbia, learn great new skills, and above all, have fun.
Application Forms were submitted online for this camp, making it easier to gather required numbers for meal preparations and tents. Commanding Officers gave out links to the forms, and parents could fill them out online, saving paper and time for everyone. We are going to be doing the same thing for ODI 2016.
This year, the cadets were able to witness the first Change of Command for the summer camp, where Lt(NL) Stephen Lemarec (NLCC Captain Rankin, Vancouver) passed command of the camp to Lt(NL) Tom Taylor (NLCC Aurora, Prince George). The summer camp had grown and built up for many years, and we are sure it’s going to continue growing and expanding for years to come. Bravo Zulu, Lt(NL) Lemarec for all your hard work and dedication!
